Wow, it's been awhile since an update from us. Here goes...
1. Abhay parents did arrive safe and sound here with us almost 2 weeks ago. We are really enjoying spending time with them. We are introducing them to all things American....slowly. Abhay and I are enjoying eating home-cooked Indian food for at least one meal almost everyday! We're both happy they are here spending the summer with us.
2. The flooding this past weekend. Many of you probably heard about it and were wondering. We are/were ok. We were not close to any water but were stranded here at home due to almost all roads being closed due to the flooding. We had power the whole time too, which many did not. We were thankful for that. The waters have receded but now it's time to clean up the city. It's a sad, awful mess. My place of employment is totally trashed. We drove by last night and saw them hauling everything out into big trucks. I'm out of work this week and possibly next week too. It brings back so many memories of when Grand Forks flooded so badly. Makes my heart hurt for so many people.
3. Greencard. Yesterday we barely made it to Indianapolis for our scheduled greencard interview. It was scary, intimidating, and nerve wracking...but Abhay was granted his greencard. YAY! This is a big deal for he and I. Life will be much easier with this. Needless to say, we're thrilled. Afterwards, we celebrated by going with his parents to the Indianapolis zoo. We had a great time...it's a gorgeous zoo. Not too big, not too small. We all liked the very well done dolphin show best.
