Haircuts and flowers

Yesterday Sheldon was finally able to be groomed. He looks so cute! It's a little short than we wanted...but it had to be short to get rid of all the mats in his fur. His haircut reviled his beautiful fur color. We can tell he feels better...and doesn't get so hot while walking/playing. He's still a good dog. We've heard him bark a few more times this week--all in efforts to "protect" us. He wear him out in the evenings with playing/walks and he sleeps all night and doesn't get up until we do.

We planted our flowers today! :) It's such a "fun" job. I love spring. We planted Impatiens (over 70 of them), Petunias, Marigolds, Hostas, Ageratum, and Cyclamen. (along with the pots of Pansies that we already had) We both are pleased with how it looks. Now it's to wait until they "fill out" and hopefully it will look gorgeous.

Our new friend

We've been talking about getting a dog for a long time...and this weekend we finally did it.

We adopted an adorable 8 month old Shih Tzu named Sheldon!! :) (He's named after Sheldon from the tv show The Big Bang Theory)

He was a abandoned last Sunday evening along side the road in the pouring rain. The local animal rescue place found him. We filled out a 4 page, yes a 4 page, application to adopt him on Wednesday night and went to meet him Thursday night. We fell in love instantly. :) There was another lady interested in him so we had to wait until Friday morning for the rescue people to decide we could adopt him! We picked him up early Saturday afternoon.

He's a sweet little guy. He's a very laid back dog...we have yet to hear him bark. He LOVES his squeaky toys and loves to play fetch. He seems to be house trained and has not had any accidents in the house. Sheldon has already taken to sleeping in his dog bed at night.

Sheldon is a unique gray color--I've never seen a Shih Tzu that is colored like him. He's a little guy, he weighs about 9 pounds. He was neutered and had a hernia fixed on Tuesday. He was also Mirco-chipped yesterday. :) He obviously wasn't well taken care of. His fur is very matted and scruffy. Poor guy has super dry skin and is very itchy. We have to wait until next weekend to have him groomed, due to his surgeries. But after that he should be looking very cute. (But we think he's cute already!)
